Roman Catholic

The Roman Catholic church has had a faithful following through the ages. At the time of the reformation most of the leading families in the Dale were Roman Catholic, which helped to keep the faith alive in those troubled times.

The church still serves Catholics who live in Nidderdale both at Pateley Bridge and at RAF Menwith Hill.

Fr Mike Walsh

Fr Mike Walsh - Our Lady Immaculate Catholic ChurchI have very recently become the new Parish Priest of Our Lady Immaculate in Pateley Bridge. I’m also Parish Administrator of St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bishop Thornton. I moved to Pateley Bridge after spending 6 years as Parish Priest in Haworth.

I’m very much looking forward to both of these roles and so far have found the people here very welcoming and I already feel very settled.

I was born in Prestbury, Cheshire and lived all over the world as I was growing up because my father was in the RAF. I have been a Priest for over 38 years.

I have been a life long supporter of Manchester United, I also enjoy Rugby League and Lancashire Cricket. I play golf as often as I can (I recently became a member at Ripon City Golf Club).
