PCC MEETING 18 NOVEMBER 2015

1          Minutes 9 September 2015 agreed.  Proposed by Judy Buller, seconded by Kath Gill.

 

2          Matters Arising

 

            Parish Trip:  Tides dictate either 13 or 27 August 2016.

Agreed 27 August 2016.  Possible stop at Durham, Bamburgh or Seahouses etc.  Leave Pateley Bridge 9.00am.  Leave Lindisfarne 7.00pm.

 

Retreat:  Parcevall Hall Saturday, 2 to Monday, 4 July 2016.  Ten booked, only 30 places available.  Leader Reverend Wilf Gowing.

 

Working Group:  Pastoral Group up and running with Church in the Dale.  Anyone who knows someone who need a visit to let the Team know via Reverend Philip Clarke.  Visits will also be made to hospitals and care homes.

 

Soft Toys for Refugee Appeal:  Labels need laminating, possibly by Doreen or Judy.  Details from Darryl.

 

3          PCC Secretary

Elaine has stepped down due to health issues.  New secretary required.  Agreed to rotate minute taking until new secretary appointed.

 

4          Celia Morris

Celia is to leave second week of December 2015.  Agreed to have presentation on 13 December 2015 of shoe box containing items from each Church and £20 garden voucher.

 

5          Lay Worship Leaders

Course of six sessions.  Lay Worship Leaders can take non-Eucharist services. The PCC supported this ministry in the parish but were unable to think of suitable candidates. Details from Darryl.

 

6          New Archdeacon

Rev Canon Beverly Mason collation at Ripon Cathedral 17 January 2016 at 3.30pm.  All are welcome.




 

7          Legacy Policy

Barry read out Legacy Policy adapted from Standard Policy.  Agreed in principle with minor amendments by PCC.  Barry to re-draft with Church details on separate schedule and provide copy at next meeting.

 

8          Treasurer’s Report

Margaret gave report.  Excess of only £58 over the year to date.  St Michael’s Fair income is important.  1½% increase agreed on quota for each Church from January 2016.  For next year all costs for candles, wine, music licences to be split between Churches (£1,200).  St Cuthbert’s Church agreed to pick up £600. Apportionment for other Churches to be put forward by Margaret.

10        Churchwardens’ Reports

 

            St Chad’s Church, Middlesmoor

29 November 2015 Christingle Service at 4.00pm.

Faculty through for erection of memorial plaques.  There will be a service of dedication in due course.

Pets’ Service to take place.  Possible date 17 July 2016.

 

St Mary’s Church, Ramsgill

No Churchwarden present.

Noted that the Christmas Fair will take place in the Village Hall weekend of 21/22 November 2015.

 

St Cuthbert’s Church, Pateley Bridge

Coffee Morning held for St Michael’s Hospice 7 November 2015.

Second ‘All Age’ Service held.  Twelve children attended.

Faculty awaited for ramp.  Planning Application has been approved.

21 November 2015 Organ Concert.  Cost £5 per person in aid of Refugee Crisis.

Clothes collection for refugees was successful.  Three car loads delivered.

Quiz held 14 November 2015 for PCC.  £135 raised.

 

St Mary’s Church, Greenhow

Celtic Service 31 January 2016.  Sermon to be by guest minister.

£152 raised at Remembrance Service for Royal British Legion.

Quiz to be held in February 2016.  Date to be agreed.

 

Bewerley Grange Chapel, Bewerley

No Churchwarden present.

Noted that anniversary Celebration Service was a great success.

All Souls’ Service poorly attended, Only 9. Agreed to move date and hold a Service of Remembrance.

 



St Michael and All Angels’ Church, Wilsill

Christingle Service 29 November 2015 at 4.00pm.

13 February 2016 Café Church.

 

11        Correspondence

 

Queen’s 90th birthday:  Correspondence from Diocese re Birthday Celebrations 10 to 12 June 2016.  Variety of possibilities, eg exhibitions in Churches of Parish, the last 90 years, etc.  Guidance to be sent out shortly.

 

Linking with Cathedral:  Kath Gill is current ambassador Judy Buller volunteered to also act in this role

 

Blood Donors:  Encouraged by Diocese to give blood and use the church building if necessary.  Blood donor sessions are held at the Memorial Hall.

 

Refugee Crisis:  We have responded via clothes bags and teddy bears and various continuing events.  Parish response to be linked with Diocese.

 

12        St Nicholas Fair

            To be opened by Peter Dodd from ‘Welcome to Yorkshire’.  Help setting up needed from 8.00am.  Doors open at 10.30am.  Raffle is doing well with some good prizes.  Letters of thanks to be taken and handed to each gift donor.  Darryl may accompany and thank personally.

 

13        Reports from Organisations

 

Church in the Dale:  Songs of Praise Sunday, 24 January 2016 at Pateley Bridge Methodist Church for Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.  Possible event on the Showground for Queen’s Birthday.  Link with 1940’s Weekend including 1940’s themed Wedding Blessings.

 

14        Any Other Business

Equipment installation in St Cuthbert’s Church tower.  Barry explained proposition for Net Coverage Ltd siting aerial in tower for Vodafone.  Benefits are approximately £6,000 per annum income and possible repairs to fabric.  Permission sought from PCC to apply for faculty to site telephone equipment in tower.  Proposed by Judy Buller, seconded by Daphne Clay.  Voted unanimously by PCC members.
